Jim Henderson farmed organically for 17 years at Whangaehu, south of Wanganui. Living beside the river there he sometimes experienced floods such as the one described in the book. Jim has always tried to think creatively and inventively but does not really see himself as a children's author. When trying to write "Flossie and the Flood" and experiencing difficulties he said a prayer, "Lord please help me write a book," and within two hours basically the book was written. He believes that there is a whole farming culture beyond the 50 km zone which is interesting, fun and also educative which needs to be communicated to our present generation of children. His aim is to continue producing more products including stories in the Flossie series and develop the characters having lots of fun doing it.
